The belt that they gave you is actually the correct belt for the V-belt for your vacuum. Your vacuum has two belts, one is http://www.govacuum.com/power-drive-v-belt-hoover-part-38528034-one-per-pack.html (package number 40201200) and the other is http://www.govacuum.com/hoover-windtunnel-power-self-propelled-drive-belts-38528035-2-pack-part-40201170.html (package number 40201170). Even though the belt may appear too big, belts typically stretch between 3-4 inches before they break, or stretch too much to work. It seems that you have the correct belt for your vacuum.
I have a Hoover Model U6430-900, Series Q12.0 Serial #070200282971. Belt #38528-035. I went to A Sears Hardware store and they gave me a Belt #40201200 and it is too big. Can you give the right number of the Belt for this Hoover?
